The Half-Second Before You Speak
The flinch you inherited, and the first of three films.
You’re in the meeting. You’ve got the answer. And in the half-second before you say it, something pulls back. You soften it. You let someone else go first. Or you swallow it whole and say nothing at all.
That half-second has a name. I call it the flinch.
It’s the hesitation before you speak the true thing. The reach for permission before you’ll stand in your own knowing. You felt it this week. Maybe even this morning.
The flinch is older than you. You inherited it from women who learned, generation after generation, that their authority wasn’t theirs until someone outside them said so. The ones who led, who spoke from somewhere deeper than the rulebook, got called too much. The lesson sank in until it stopped feeling like a lesson and started feeling like the truth.
The Wheel of the Cailleach
This is the work I teach women out of.
The Wheel of the Cailleach is a year-long, soul-led leadership initiation rooted in Celtic goddess work, plant medicine, shamanic practice, and seasonal ritual. The kind of leadership that begins in the body and the soul, and holds its own cadence when the world tries to rush it. The kind that stops asking the room whether you’re allowed.
The first turn of that year, the Dawn Arc, opens at the solstice. It begins with exactly this. The flinch, and how to stand anyway.

I saw your powerful video. Your explanations where like no other had voiced before. I felt the flinch loud and clear. The body is such a finely tuned instrument isn’t it.Thank you Dakota 💛
